World-Class Manufacturing

Vertically integrated manufacturing benefits Mohawk’s business in multiple ways. It allows us to extend continuous process improvements and advanced technologies, such as automation, across our facilities quickly. When necessary, it also allows us to strategically shutter high-cost assets and shift production to newer, more advanced facilities. With today’s technology, we can effectively deliver the same capacity as 10 years ago with a manufacturing footprint a fraction of the size, creating operational efficiencies and further reducing our consumption of energy and water.

Differentiated Distribution

Our distribution strategies are tailored to the needs of the geographies we serve. For example, our U.S. ceramic business depends on a national network of service centers, countertop centers and design galleries. Our national network of warehouses and large fleet of trucks provides us with a competitive advantage in the U.S. carpet and hard surface market. In Russia, we employ a combination of Company-owned and franchised stores that will soon carry premium sanitary ware and porcelain countertops in addition to wall and floor tile. In Europe, we have further increased our direct hard surface distribution footprint with the acquisition of distributors in Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. In Australia and New Zealand, we also use our national distribution networks for soft and hard surfaces. This direct distribution strategy positions us closer to our customers, helps us better understand their needs and provides them with greater service and value.
