Our Marcus Trauma Center saw a 23% increase in trauma patients in 2021. As the region's only American College of Surgeons Verified Level 1 trauma center, we are the hospital emergency responders count on to treat people injured in vehicle accidents, falls, and cases of violence. Our role was especially important last year when Atlanta’s hospitals were overwhelmed with COVID patients.

Trauma is nothing new for Grady. As the region’s trauma leader and the Regional Coordinating Hospital, we have long been at the center of delivering support to 24 acute care hospitals and hundreds of other organizations in Fulton, DeKalb, Rockdale, Forsyth, Fayette, Clayton, Gwinnett, and Newton counties.

For example, last year we helped to facilitate more than 150,000 EMS transfers to hospitals across the metro area and nearly 500 hospital-to-hospital COVID transfers across the state to get those patients the higher level of care they needed.
