Medicine

In 2021, our Food as Medicine program celebrated its first anniversary. The numbers tell the story:

We distributed more than 400,000 lbs of food with the help of the Atlanta Community Food Bank and Open Hand Atlanta.

More than
1,000 patients and staff with diabetes or hypertension, who screened positive for food insecurity, were referred to our Food Pharmacy. They received access to healthy foods, cooking classes, and nutrition education in our Jesse Hill Market.

Our inpatient meals program provided home-delivered, medically tailored meals to almost
500 patients with health conditions, including cancer, diabetes, and heart failure. The goal is to eliminate food insecurity as a health issue.

We hosted nearly 100 Fresh
