In International, eight of ten markets posted positive comp sales for the year, including the four major markets, and overall sales increased 2.9 percent in constant currency. We are positioning the portfolio for long-term, sustainable growth with market driven solutions for our customers. Our scale and diverse capabilities allow us to create a competitive advantage, and the trust we are building means we are making a difference in communities across the globe.

Our priority is to ensure each business we operate around the world is locally relevant in the eyes of our customers and can maximize the unique benefits of being part of Walmart.

Each of our markets has a clear role in our portfolio, and we have prioritized four markets: India, China, Mexico and Canada.

We continue to be thoughtful about our portfolio and took actions during the year designed to better position it for success. This included the acquisition of a leading Indian eCommerce ecosystem, Flipkart, and the sale of 80 percent of Walmart Brazil.

Innovating
to make life easier for our
customers and associates

We continue to seek innovative solutions to make life easier for customers and associates. For example, we are leaning-in to accelerate omni-channel capabilities, global sourcing and the sharing of best practices. We see great progress in places like China where we have made investments in last-mile delivery. Through new partnerships and acquisitions, we are accelerating growth in other markets such as Canada, Mexico, Chile and Japan.

We have made it easier for our customers in Mexico to pay for their shopping in stores or online, through the launch of the “Walmart Cashi" mobile wallet as well as eCommerce kiosks in our MiBodega stores.

We have introduced new apps in Mexico and Canada, available on handheld devices to help our associates stay on the sales floor and be available to customers.
