Minimizing Risk While Maximizing Flexibility

“Although we’re a large health network, a great value our system has is that it allows for partner physicians as well as other specialties and other minds from the community. ”

Dr. Jason Schrock is primary care partner and family medicine physician who also serves on Ochsner Physician Partners (OPP) and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) committees. To Dr. Schrock, the value-based care model just makes sense. “Our patients are better cared for, given the synergies gained from the cooperation of the payors in our current healthcare model being able to obtain data from Epic and bring value-based care into the future.” OPP recruits doctors in the community who work together to minimize overall risk and adverse outcomes by maintaining high-quality, value-based care. “OPP drives that forward,” Dr. Schrock explains, “through data-driven metrics, increasing our presence in the community and advocating for our patients.”

The network also has the flexibility to accommodate healthcare professionals who want to work within the network in different ways. “Although we’re a large health network, a great value our system has is that it allows for partner physicians as well as other specialties and other minds from the community,” Dr. Schrock continues. “That preserves the autonomy those physicians value in their own setting while also affording them the ability to practice together with us and provide the best possible care for patients.”
