2008 Highlights
- Celebrated 10-year Anniversary of AutoTrader.com, which has changed the way people buy, sell and shop for vehicles in the United States over the past decade.
- Received more than 15 million unique visitors for the first time in March 2008.
- Increased dealer sales revenue 20% over 2007, exceeding $500 million for the first time, while national accounts revenue increased nearly 26% over the prior year.
- Introduced major site enhancements focused on new car offerings to provide customers with a complete one-stop "shopping" experience to research, compare and ultimately find the best car to purchase. Other enhancements included the introduction of Lifestyle Central “interest centers,” improved “Research and Compare” functionality and a redesigned search results page.
- Received highest ranking for overall satisfaction among new-vehicle lead online buying for the second consecutive year, based on results from J.D. Power and Associates’ 2008 Dealer Satisfaction with Online Buying Services Study.
- Launched first-ever ad campaign for AutoTrader.com focused on its new car offerings. The campaign -- 'Big Guy' -- included 30-second television spots, integration into online and trade media advertising, a consumer contest promotion, and the “Drive to a New Start” campaign, a multi-city tour to promote new car offerings, while also benefiting children in underserved areas.
- Incorporated the operations of AutoMart.com, AutoExtra.com and AutoTrader Latino in print and online to facilitate long-term growth of online automotive advertising businesses.
- Integrated operations with AutoTrader Classics, formerly Collector Car, in order to pursue growth opportunities and to better serve the expanding classic car market segments.
