Cox Enterprises today is a product of the ideas, talents and hard work of the people who have served our organization over the years. We extend a heartfelt thanks to three who retired at year end, but whose invaluable contributions to us will long remain. Carl Gross joined the Dayton Newspapers in 1965, became Cox Enterprises' first Chief Financial Officer, and joined the Board in 1970. For 17 years, our Board also has been fortunate to have the insight of Paul Rizzo, former Vice Chairman of IBM and dean of the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Finally, Alexander "Netch" Netchvolodoff has been the face of Cox on Capitol Hill for the past 15 years, most recently as Senior Vice President of Public Policy, playing a pivotal role in shaping the federal policies that impact many aspects of our businesses.
